Age of Revolutions and Enlightenment (SE.WH 3.04)

Beginning in the late 1500s, new discoveries and the use of reason in Europe during the Scientific Revolution and the Enlightenment led to changing ideas about government and society. Influenced by Enlightenment ideas, British colonists in North America established a new nation—the United States.  In this unit students will explore enlightenment and revolutions that took place between 1550-1800 worldwide. They will connects anthropology (human behavior) of beliefs in society then and now and explain how ideas from this era influence how students relate to one another today.

SE.WH 3.04 = Explores changes in individual development and identity during the Enlightenment and the age of Revolutions.
PROFICIENT = • Describes enlightenment and revolutions that took place between 1550-1800 worldwide.
• Connects anthropology (human behavior) of beliefs in society then and now.
• Explains how ideas from this era influence how students relate to one another today.
