Theme #10: Civic Responsibilities

What is “community involvement” and how do we attempt, as a nation of individuals to work together? How can we help inspire others to be involved in the upcoming elections?  How is this important to democracy and our communities we live in?  What have you done personally, to improve the community you live in? What can we do, as individuals, to influence others in our community to be involved and help us work together?

The class will hold a school-wide “Mock Election” on the real candidates and issues.    Students will use their project ideas from the “Multiple Intelligences” to select a project in their level, to demonstrate “mastery” of the particular theme standard.

Essential Questions:
What is our “Civic responsibility”?  Does everyone have these in all countries?  What makes us unique?  How can I demonstrate my community involvement if I’m too young to vote?
