Cause & Effect of My Actions (Careers CC.LT 1.04)

Do you know that what you do or don’t do really matters?  Often, it’s a perception, as well as reality.  The sooner you can learn to communicate to others your good intentions, the smoother your experiences at work and other places will be.

Take responsibility for what you do and say.  Think before speaking… “How will this sound if I am them?” It’s easy to think everyone will perceive your actions and words like you do… but we all know that’s not true.  In this standard, you will set some specific goals of seeing how you do in different situations, then check to see if this is really happening.

Make a list of specific actions you will do that should result in positive things.  How did it go?  Were there any surprises?  Did you learn anything new about how you can do things better in the future?
CC.LT 1.04 = Practices cause and affect of varying problems.

PROFICIENT = •    Demonstrates three or more actions that resulted in positive results for a week or more.
•    Demonstrates responsibility for individual actions and implemented two or more ways to improve daily for a week or more.
Examples might include:
-    Come on time to every class for a week, with pencil, paper, and pen drive
-    When my parents ask me for something, I immediately respond, ‘Yes, mom/dad”
-    Dress professionally to see if my attitude is better, and more serious at school
-    When someone says something mean to me, I resist getting back at them, but take the ‘high road’ and walk away, or try to find out what’s really bothering them, in a nice way.
-    I look for an opportunity to do something nice for someone each day, without them knowing.
