Lesson #2: Marketing Strategies and Media Awareness

In class, we started Lesson 2, looking deeper into marketing strategies used in commercials.  Using storyboards, we then created (in 5 groups) an advertisement to "sell" the ipod-Touch.

- Flattery
- Power Words
- Repetition
- Fear
- Humor
- Enbarrassment
- Sex Appeal

Each student took home 1 movie to "deconstruct" and report on for the next class.  Comments are posted on the Moodle forum:  Week 2 Forum: Post your Alcohol Media Scavenger Hunt Here.  Students will post answer in reply to the Movie Deconstruction

HTH students took home a movie for homework. Watch the "Director's Commentary" and answer the following:
1) What movie did you watch?
2) What was the overall message?
3) What persuasion technique(s) was used?
4) Optional: Did you like the movie? Why or why not?
