Constitutional Law (SE.EG 6.06)

The class will explore significant court cases that challenge our USA constitution.  Students will learn about real cases that have impacted future decisions and society.
What is power? What forms does it take? Who holds it? How is it gained, used, and justified? What is legitimate authority? How are governments created, structured, maintained, and changed? How can we keep government responsive to its citizens' needs and interests? How can individual rights be protected within the context of majority rule?  What is “constitutional law” and how is it upheld?  What are some major court cases that are brought up as a result of disputes in constitutional law?

SE.EC 6.06 = Examines at least two issues, problems, or concepts in constitutional law
PROFICIENT = *Identifies 2 issues, problems, or concepts in constitutional law.
*Traces supreme court jurisprudence for those 2 choices.
*Analyzes 1 supreme court case (real or simulation)
*Writes a case brief for the case you analyzed, based on your views of the case.
